Plot summary
In 1973, Frank Carlton Feranna Jr. leaves his mother Deana after years of abuse. In 1978 he relocates from Seattle to Los Angeles and tries to find the father who abandoned the family, but the attempt goes nowhere; he makes his legal name Nikki Sixx in 1980. He meets drummer Tommy Lee and says he is starting a band. They add guitarist Mick Mars, who has ankylosing spondylitis, and bring in Vince Neil from the cover band Rock Candy to sing lead. They call themselves Mötley Crüe. Their first show at the Starwood goes well despite a brawl, and they begin selling out clubs around Los Angeles. Elektra Records producer Tom Zutaut comes to them with a five-album deal, and they hire Doc McGhee as manager.
