Biography
Colson Baker, an American rapper and actor known as MGK and formerly Machine Gun Kelly, began by self-releasing four mixtapes between 2007 and 2010, then signed with Sean Combs' Bad Boy Records in 2011. His first album, Lace Up, came out in 2012 and reached number four on the Billboard 200, while its single Wild Boy became his first song to chart on the Billboard Hot 100. General Admission (2015) and Bloom (2017) drew critical praise and similar success, with Bloom's Bad Things reaching number four on the Hot 100. He moved into pop-punk with Tickets to My Downfall (2020), produced by Travis Barker, which topped the Billboard 200, and its sequel Mainstream Sellout (2022) matched its success. On screen he started with a starring role in Beyond the Lights (2014) and appeared in Nerve (2016), Bird Box (2018), The Dirt (2019), Project Power (2020) and Midnight in the Switchgrass (2021), and he co-directed and starred in Good Mourning (2022).
