- The trailer for The Dilemma drew complaints over Vince Vaughn's line calling electric cars "gay", and Universal said it had contacted the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation about the line before the trailer was released. The line still drew complaints once the trailer went online, and the studio worked with GLAAD on a new trailer.
- GLAAD asked Universal to pull the trailer and to cut the offending line from the film itself; the studio released a new trailer without it but left the line in the film to Ron Howard, who had final cut privilege and chose to keep it.
