Plot summary
The wedding of Fantaghirò and Romualdo is being prepared, and the love between them moves the King to abdicate in favor of his daughter. In the faraway Dark Kingdom, its ruler, the Dark Witch, is disgusted by their love and sets out to destroy it. She kidnaps Fantaghirò's father and demands Fantaghirò's kingdom in exchange. The couple postpone the ceremony, and Romualdo leads the army toward the Dark Kingdom to free her father. On the road they meet Forest Elves and their Queen, who require the soldiers to prove the purity of their intentions before letting them pass. Romualdo gets through the tests, and the army marches on.

- While filming the sword fight between Romualdo and Fantaghirò, performed without stunt doubles, Kim Rossi Stuart's sword actually struck Alessandra Martines in the head; she was not seriously hurt and went to the hospital still wearing her costume.
- Ángela Molina, who played the White Witch and the White Knight in the first Fantaghirò, was replaced in the second film by Katarina Kolajova, who later married her co-star Stefano Davanzati, the actor playing Cataldo, after meeting him on set.
