Plot summary
Jordan Sands, seventeen, has a bad case of allergies and became the woman of the house after her mother's recent death. Her father, David, is struggling to make ends meet, and her fourteen-year-old brother, Hunter, drives the family crazy with gory pranks because he loves monsters. The family inherits a castle in Wolfsberg, Romania, from their mother's great-uncle, Dragomir Ducovic, and moves in. The housekeeper, Madame Varcolac, is strange and steely. David decides to sell the property to end their financial struggles and dates Paulina von Eckberg, the real estate agent who handles the sale. Exploring the town, Hunter hears about the Wolfsberg Beast, and Jordan meets Goran, the local butcher. Snooping in Dragomir's laboratory, Jordan steps on a vial of blood, and her behavior begins to change.
