Plot summary
Marty Bronson raises his son Skeeter and daughter Wendy at the Sunny Vista Motel in Los Angeles, but the business fails and he sells it to Barry Nottingham, who promises Skeeter the manager's job once he grows up. Decades later Skeeter is the handyman at the hotel Nottingham built on the site, while Kendall holds the general manager post. Wendy, principal of Webster Elementary, is looking for work in Arizona while the school faces closure, so she asks her friend Jill to watch her children, Bobbi and Patrick, by day and Skeeter to watch them at night. Skeeter and his friend Mickey make up bedtime stories for the children, who add details of their own, and those details begin to happen in Skeeter's life.
