Plot summary
Tim Templeton is an adult now. He and his wife Carol have two daughters, seven-year-old Tabitha and baby Tina. His younger brother Ted is a CEO and is never around. One night Tim finds out that Tina, like Ted before her, works for Baby Corp, and that she has a mission of her own that needs Ted there. Tim refuses to call his brother, so Tina leaves a fake voicemail that brings Ted to the house. The next morning Tina shows them a formula that can turn the two of them back into children for forty-eight hours. It is meant to get them inside Tabitha's school, where Dr. Erwin Armstrong runs the Acorn Center for Advanced Childhood, and find out what he is planning without the parents knowing.

- With F9, The Boss Baby: Family Business and The Forever Purge, Universal became the first single studio to hold the top three spots at the box office since February 2005.
- Portions of the film were made remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic, and Jellyfish Pictures, which had worked on How to Train Your Dragon: Homecoming and Spirit Untamed, lent its production assets while animation was done at DWA Glendale.
- Hans Zimmer's "Run Free", from Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, and "Zoosters Breakout", from Madagascar, were reused in the film, with "Run Free" playing during the pony pursuit to Acorn Academy.
- It was the last DreamWorks Animation film to have HP as the studio's preferred workstation partner; Lenovo took over that role beginning with The Bad Guys in 2022.
