Plot summary
The Book of Vision belongs to Johan Anmuth, an 18th-century Prussian physician who worked as rational thought was rising and older animist beliefs still held. He wrote down the fears, hopes, and dreams of more than 1,800 patients, and the manuscript is no scientific text. In the present day, Eva is a young doctor who has stepped away from a promising career to study the history of medicine at a remote university. She is searching for an answer to an urgent dilemma, and she is questioning her illness, her body, and a fate she believes is fixed. Stellan enters her life and is made to face his own nature.
