Biography

Lotte Verbeek is a Dutch actress, dancer and model who was born in Venlo and trained in dance in Arnhem and Amsterdam before finishing her studies at the Theaterschool in Amsterdam in 2008. She began with lead roles in Dutch films including Moes and LEFT, then took the best actress Leopard at the Locarno International Film Festival in 2009 for Nothing Personal (2009), a role that also brought her a best actress award at Marrakech and a Golden Calf nomination. A Shooting Stars Award at Berlin followed in 2010, along with a Golden Nymph in 2011 for Le Ragazze dello Swing. She is known for Giulia Farnese in The Borgias from 2011 to 2013 and Geillis Duncan in Outlander from 2014, and has appeared in Suspension of Disbelief (2012), The Fault in Our Stars (2014), The Last Witch Hunter (2015), The Book of Vision (2020) and Nuremberg (2025).
