Plot summary
A cheap music hall in London's Limehouse is run by Dan Tate, who also leads a crew of thieves under the name the Blackbird. His cover is a deformed brother, the Bishop of Limehouse, who lives above a mission for the poor and vouches for the Blackbird when the police come asking about a robbery. One evening a group of wealthy Londoners visits the hall, headed by Bertram P. Glayde, a thief the others know as West End Bertie. Dan and Bertie are both taken with Fifi Lorraine, who performs on the stage with puppets and dances. She has her eye on a diamond choker that one of Bertie's guests is wearing. Polly, Dan's former wife, reappears at the hall after a long absence.
