Plot summary
Fontaine Khaled's marriage to a wealthy man ended in a settlement, but her London club, The Hobo, is emptying as newer venues draw the crowd away. On a flight back from New York she falls in with Nico Cantafora, an Italian gambler who presents himself as a rich businessman and lets her carry a stolen diamond ring through customs without her knowing it. He owes the mafia money and intends to sell the ring in London. Her adviser Arnold Rinstead warns that her funds are running low, and she sets about restoring the club to what it once was. She learns of Nico's gangland ties when local men beat him up over his unpaid debts.

- Both films were commercial successes that helped revive Joan Collins' flagging career, and her performances as Fontaine Khaled caught the attention of Aaron Spelling and Esther and Richard Shapiro while they were casting Alexis Carrington for their TV series Dynasty.
- The Bitch was banned from local cinema screens by Tameside Council, near Manchester in England, at the time of its 1979 release because of its erotic adult content.
- Jackie Collins gave her sister Joan the film rights to both The Stud and The Bitch for free so they could be turned into movies, and once funding was secured the films were co-produced by the sisters' husbands, Oscar Lerman and Ron Kass.
- Gerry O'Hara was hired to direct The Bitch on the condition that its budget did not exceed that of The Stud, the 1978 film it followed.
