Plot summary
Crawford Mackenzie, a gay Scottish hairdresser, is being filmed for a fly-on-the-wall BBC documentary. He receives an invitation to the World Hairdresser International Federation's contest, which is held every year. The documentary crew travels with him from Glasgow to Los Angeles, where he expects to compete. Once he arrives, Crawford finds that his invitation is for a seat in the audience, not a place on the stage. He wants to take part in the contest, but he is not on the list of competitors. To join the event he came to win, he must find another way. The event is the Platinum Scissors competition.
