Drew Carey

Did you know?!

1. Big break

After the Power of 10 pilot was taped, CBS got in touch with Carey about taking over for Bob Barker, who had already said he was retiring as host of The Price Is Right. Carey said no at first, then told David Letterman's show he would start in fall 2007.

2. Getting ready for a role

Carey took singing lessons to prepare for his role in the 2000 television film Geppetto, an adaptation of Pinocchio that debuted on The Wonderful World of Disney and included actor Wayne Brady.

3. Big break

In November 1991, while working as a stand-up comedian, Carey performed on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. Carson was impressed and asked him to sit on the couch beside his desk, which was seen as a rare honor for any comedian.

4. Behind the camera

In 1994, Carey wrote the stand-up special Drew Carey: Human Cartoon himself. Showtime aired it, and it earned a CableACE Award for Best Writing.

5. Behind the camera

Carey helped found the Improv All-Stars, a troupe of 11 actors who do unscripted skits. The group appeared with him in all three of his improv shows.
