Ted McGinley

Biography

Ted McGinley is an American actor who built a career in television and film after a casting director noticed his modeling photo in GQ. He grew up in Newport Beach, California. His break came on Happy Days as Roger Phillips, which he played from 1980 to 1984, and during that run he appeared in the comedy Young Doctors in Love (1982). After Happy Days ended, he played Stan Gable in Revenge of the Nerds (1984), the fraternity antagonist, and returned to the role in two later television sequels. He became a regular on The Love Boat and Dynasty, then from 1991 to 1997 played Jefferson D'Arcy on Married... with Children. He had recurring parts on Sports Night and The West Wing, and from 2003 to 2006 he starred as Charley Shanowski on Hope & Faith. Later television work included guest roles and the sitcom Charlie Lawrence.
