Plot summary
Bee is the babysitter who looks after Cole, a twelve-year-old in his first year of high school. Jeremy, the boy next door, bullies Cole, and Bee comes to his defense and scares Jeremy away. She is one of his only two friends. The next day, Cole's parents head to a hotel for the night, and the two of them spend the evening together until it is time for bed. Bee offers Cole a drink of liquor, which he quietly dumps out when her back is turned. Melanie, another neighbor and the other friend he has, sends him a text urging him to find out what Bee does once he is supposed to be asleep.
