Plot summary
Sam Walker is a NASA astronaut whose shuttle is hit by debris as she returns from the International Space Station. The U.S. Coast Guard rescues her, and she wakes in a hospital with no memory of the accident. Doctors in hazmat suits question her and place her in quarantine for decontamination. Her husband Mark and daughter Izzy visit, and then her father, General William Harris, says the crash investigation now belongs to the Pentagon. Sam is then kept alone in a rural cottage. She has hallucinations of shadow soldiers, and black shadows stalk her from the nearby woods. The bruise she received during reentry spreads, and she discovers she has telekinetic powers.
