Plot summary
Twenty years after Josh Bishop and two other teenagers disappeared near Phoenix without a trace, his sister Sophie comes home to make a documentary about the case. Sorting through the tapes Josh left behind, she watches him investigate the lights he recorded during her sixth birthday party, the event known as the Phoenix Lights. Josh is sure they came from a UFO, while the astronomers he and Ashley interview call them military flares. Ashley, a high school student drawn to journalism, works with him on the research, and Mark is the friend with a car who drives them toward the desert. The only evidence the police recover is Mark's abandoned vehicle and a camera holding one last tape.
