Plot summary
Sarah and Michael set out on Highway 66, the route that crosses Death Valley. A black muscle car settles in behind them, and the person driving it means to keep them there. Whichever way Sarah and Michael turn, the highway brings them back to the same isolated stretch. They pull in at a diner styled after the 1950s to look for help. The people working there behave oddly, and some of them seem to know more than they say. A waitress who does not speak leaves two quarters in front of the couple. When the two drive on, the car is behind them again.
