Plot summary
Red lives on the edge of Bird Island, a place whose flightless birds know nothing of other islands. He loses his temper with a family whose hatchday cake he delivered late, and the argument accidentally hatches their baby. At his hearing he argues with Judge Peckinpah and is sent to an anger management class taught by Matilda. There he meets Chuck, a hyperactive speedster, Bomb, who explodes without warning, and the enormous Terence, who only grunts. Chuck and Bomb try to make friends with him, and he keeps his distance. When a boat damages his house and two green pigs, Leonard and Ross, step ashore calling themselves peaceful explorers, Red does not believe them.
