Kelly McCormack
Biography
Kelly McCormack is a Canadian performer who works as an actress, writer, director, musician, and producer. Born and raised in Vancouver, she started performing on stage at seven and trained in classical music, opera, and musical theater. She studied literature in England and at the University of British Columbia before moving to New York to study musical theater. McCormack performed with The Flea Theatre Company and later worked in Toronto's indie theater scene with playwright Kat Sandler. On television, she is known for playing Jess McCready in A League of Their Own, Zeph Vos in Killjoys, and Betty-Anne in Letterkenny. She wrote and starred in the independent features Play the Film (2013) and Barn Wedding (2015), and wrote, produced, and starred in Sugar Daddy (2021). She also produced and starred in the CBC mockumentary The Neddeaus of Duqesne Island, which received Canadian Screen Award nominations. McCormack runs the production company Floyder Films.

First role
In 2013, McCormack wrote and starred in her first feature film, Play the Film, which was made for just $1,000. Her writing on it earned several awards, among them Best Screenplay at the Broad Humor Film Festival.
Early training
After finishing university, McCormack relocated to New York City to train in acting, musical theater and experimental theater. With The Flea Theatre Company, as part of The Bat Company, she performed in Liz Swados' Kaspar Hauser.

McCormack has performed on stage and worked in film and television, and she also runs the production company Floyder Films.
Beyond film
McCormack helped develop and appeared in Charlotte: A Tri-Coloured Play With Music, an opera about the life of German painter Charlotte Salomon. It was staged in 2017 at the Luminato Festival in Toronto and at the World Stage Design Festival in Taipei.
