Plot summary
Jamilah is the president of her Black sorority, the captain of its champion step team and the liaison between the students and the college dean, and she plans to go on to Harvard Law School. After the party-obsessed white sisters of Sigma Beta Beta damage the school's reputation, Jamilah is ordered to set things right. The girls she has to train have no feel for stepping, and her task is to get them ready for the Steptacular, the most competitive of the dance competitions. The chapter's charter and its standing are at risk, and Jamilah's Harvard plans are in jeopardy too.
