Plot summary
Ray has been treated for schizophrenia at a psychiatric hospital, and his brother Pete brings him home to the flat they will share in West London. Pete is a chef who puts in long hours at the café their father left him, a greasy spoon in the daytime that turns into a trendy eatery at night, and he now has to look after Ray as well as the business, including his brother's medication. Ray is intelligent and outgoing. He falls for Laura, a Glaswegian woman who is in the middle of a breakup with her abusive boyfriend. Laura is drawn to his spontaneity and the fun he finds in things. Around the same time, Pete starts a relationship with Mandy.
