Plot summary
Slaughter, a Vietnam veteran and former Green Beret captain, is charged with first-degree murder for killing a Mafia member while hunting the Cleveland organized-crime gang that arranged his father's death in a car bomb. The man who ordered that killing escapes him. Treasury official Price offers to drop the charges if Slaughter travels to an unnamed South American country and captures the fugitive, who runs his crime empire with a super-computer. There he works with two fellow agents, Harry and Kim, and comes up against Dominic Hoffo, the mobster he has been chasing and the right-hand man of kingpin Felice. Hoffo dislikes him at once, and Felice orders Ann, a woman working for the organization, to present herself to him as a peace offering.

- Mexico's censorship board required the film's setting to be changed from Mexico to a non-specified country, even though Mexico's Churubusco Studios had partly financed it. Producer Monroe Sachson said the board was "totally against any reference to their country if it shows it in any bad light."
- Billy Preston wrote and performed the film's theme song, and his recording was later used by Quentin Tarantino in his 2009 film Inglourious Basterds and by Brian Helgeland in his 2015 film Legend.
