Plot summary
Vince Majestyk farms watermelons near Edna, Colorado. A Vietnam veteran and onetime Army Ranger instructor, he owns 160 acres and must bring in his crop soon to keep the place going. Bobby Kopas, a small-time hood, wants the harvest done by unskilled drunks under a protection racket. Majestyk refuses and drives him off. Instead he takes on Mexican migrant workers, among them Nancy Chavez, who picks crops and organizes for a union. Kopas files assault charges, and Majestyk is arrested before the picking is done.
