Plot summary
Teresa, the teenage daughter of a Mexican crime lord known as El Jefe, is pregnant, and she names Alfredo Garcia as the father. El Jefe had groomed Garcia as his successor, and he offers a million-dollar bounty for the man's head. Two months later, the hitmen Sappensly and Quill question Bennie, an American piano player and bar manager in a Mexico City saloon, who claims he does not know Garcia. Bennie's girlfriend Elita, a motel maid, admits she slept with Garcia and says he died in a drunk-driving crash the week before. Bennie strikes a deal with Max, El Jefe's business associate, for ten thousand dollars for the head, and talks Elita into a road trip to Garcia's grave, saying he only wants proof that his rival is gone.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia (1974)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- After Peckinpah told Variety that "Hollywood no longer exists" for him and that he preferred filming in Mexico, the Motion Picture and Television Unions censured him at their Detroit conference and threatened to boycott the finished film as a "runaway" production, before backing down.
- Made cheaply in Mexico right after the commercial failure of Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid, Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia was, by Sam Peckinpah's own claim, the only one of his films ever released exactly as he intended it.
SPOILER
The film began as a pitch from Peckinpah's friend, screenwriter Frank Kowalski, who described the concept as a movie called "Bring Me the Head of..." where the twist is that the wanted man is already dead when the manhunt for him begins.- The film's title has inspired multiple musical tributes to Grateful Dead guitarist Jerry Garcia: Archie Brown and the Young Bucks released an album called "Bring Me the Head of Jerry Garcia" in 1987, followed by singles or albums of the same name from Iron Prostate in 1991 and Dick Nasty in 2012.
