Plot summary
An enforcer for the Chicago Irish Mob, Nick Devlin agrees to a fee to travel to Kansas City and collect a half-million dollars from Mary Ann, who runs a slaughterhouse there. Chicago has already sent one man, whose remains came back packed among Mary Ann's sausages. Devlin takes a driver and three younger mob men along. In Kansas City he finds Mary Ann's brother, Weenie, at a flophouse, beats him and tells him the debt is being called in. Mary Ann keeps a farm where young women are auctioned, and tells Devlin to collect the money at the county fair the next day. One of the women, Poppy, begs Devlin to take her with him, and he does, on account.

- The film was considered highly risqué for its time because of its violence and the hint of a homosexual relationship between two brothers, and for a scene showing naked young women, including Sissy Spacek and Janit Baldwin, in pens being auctioned like cattle.
- The film is also noted for its depiction of the beef slaughtering process and for a chase scene involving a combine harvester in an open field.
