Plot summary
Stephen Sondheim is the subject of a film built around six of his songs, with each number traced back to its origins. The selections are Something's Coming from West Side Story, Opening Doors from Merrily We Roll Along, Send in the Clowns from A Little Night Music, I'm Still Here from Follies, Being Alive from Company and Sunday from Sunday in the Park with George. Alongside archival material from his career, there is footage shot for a 2010 Broadway revue of his music. Some of the songs appear as original short films, while others come from existing material. Sondheim himself performs, and other performers stage numbers in the film segments and in the revue footage.
