Susan Browning

Susan Browning was an American actress and singer who built her career in Broadway musicals. Born Susan Brown in Baldwin, New York, she earned a theater arts degree at Penn State and changed her surname to avoid confusion with another actress. She began with the Equity Library Theatre, and after the impresario Julius Monk spotted her in a revue there she spent a year in his Plaza 9 show Dime a Dozen before making her Broadway debut in Love and Kisses. She earned two Tony nominations, for Company in 1971 and Goodtime Charley in 1975, and also appeared on Broadway in Shelter and Big River. On screen she played one of the nuns in Sister Act (1992) and its sequel, Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit (1993), and her television credits included Law & Order, All My Children and Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman. She died in 2006.
