Plot summary
Perry's California Dreams Tour ran 127 concerts from February 2011 to January 2012. Much of the concert footage comes from her shows at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, with performances from Tokyo and São Paulo also included. Between the numbers, Perry and the people close to her speak about her childhood and teenage years, her career and her personal life. The film also shows her rehearsals, her choreography and the stage style she has developed. Other singers appear in cameo moments. Perry has described the film as closing the chapter on her Teenage Dream era and offering an inside view of what she thinks and feels, and she has named Madonna's Truth or Dare as a major influence.
