Plot summary
A top secret military experiment has kept Dr. Andrea Swanson and Jake, her research assistant, on a remote Pacific island, where they study a mutant breed of snake and work toward an anti-toxin. When tensions with the Chinese military rise, Admiral Bradley Wallace evacuates the island. The way out is an aging decommissioned submarine on a final voyage to Taiwan, and Wallace hands Lt. Commander James O'Neill the helm; the veteran, facing forced retirement, is not pleased to be looking after his two new guests. Andrea carries experimental snakes to the mainland, and Jake has also brought deadlier mutated ones aboard, among them a giant diamondback.
