Luke Perry
Biography
Luke Perry was an American actor who became a teen idol as the brooding Dylan McKay on Beverly Hills, 90210, playing the part from 1990 to 1995 and returning for a second stretch from 1998 to 2000. Born in Mansfield, Ohio, and raised in Fredericktown, he moved to Los Angeles after high school and took his earliest roles on the daytime soap operas Loving and Another World. His films included Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992), 8 Seconds (1994), Normal Life, Invasion (1997), The Fifth Element (1997), and Storm (1999). He later starred in the prison drama Oz, the series Jeremiah, and Riverdale, where he played Fred Andrews from 2017 until 2019. He voiced Rick Jones in The Incredible Hulk and appeared on Broadway in The Rocky Horror Show. His final film, Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood (2019), brought him a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination. He died in 2019.

Beyond film
Perry played Brad Majors in a 2001 Broadway revival of The Rocky Horror Show, and in 2004 he played Harry in the London production of When Harry Met Sally ... opposite Alyson Hannigan.
A role that slipped away
Perry turned down the 2008 Beverly Hills, 90210 revival, saying he had done that kind of role before and citing the absence of longtime producer Aaron Spelling.
