Plot summary
Francis Fitzpatrick invests on Wall Street and is married to Renee, who is frustrated by how little interest he takes in her. He is also carrying on with Heather, the ex-fiancée of his older brother Mickey, a New York cab driver who has not gotten over the infidelity that ended their engagement. On Long Island, weekend visits to their parents mean fishing trips with their father Frank, who by family tradition keeps women off his motorboat. Driving one day, Mickey picks up Hope, an art student at NYU. The two get along at once, she asks him to take her to New Orleans, and within days they marry. Back in the city, they tell Francis and Renee, and Francis takes the news badly.
