Plot summary
Southwest Texas, 1870. Travis Coates, eighteen, must mind his twelve-year-old brother Arliss on the family farm while their parents travel to an ailing grandmother. Arliss goes out with his dog Savage Sam to trail a bobcat. Bud Searcy brings word that renegade Apaches are nearby. Travis and Bud's seventeen-year-old daughter Lisbeth set out to find Arliss, and Apaches under a Comanche leader seize the three of them.
