Jeff York

Biography

Jeff York was an American actor who worked in film and television from the late 1930s onward. Born in Los Angeles in 1912, he began with the serial Terry and the Pirates, playing Pat Ryan in 1940, and that same year starred in Li'l Abner. His best-remembered part was Bud Searcy in Disney's Old Yeller (1957) and its 1963 sequel Savage Sam. He also appeared in Disney productions such as The Great Locomotive Chase (1956), Westward Ho, the Wagons!, and Johnny Tremain (1957). On television he drew attention in the mid-1950s playing Mike Fink opposite Fess Parker in two Davy Crockett episodes for Disney. He later starred as the trapper Joe Crane in two Disney series, The Saga of Andy Burnett and Zorro, co-starred as Reno McKee in the 1959 western series The Alaskans, and guest starred on Perry Mason three times.
