Plot summary
In early 20th-century Oklahoma Indian Territory, Sarah Rector is a Black girl who believes oil lies beneath the barren land allotted to her. Her faith proves right when the land yields oil, and the discovery draws greedy oil sharks who want to take the valuable property. Sarah, still a child, turns to her family, friends, and some Texas wildcatters to keep control of the oil-rich land.
