Usher Raymond
Biography
Usher Raymond IV is an American singer, songwriter, actor, and dancer. Born in Dallas and raised largely in Chattanooga, he started in music as a teenager, releasing his self-titled debut album in 1994. My Way (1997) gave him his first US number-one single, Nice & Slow. His 2001 album 8701 produced the chart-topping U Remind Me and U Got It Bad. Confessions (2004) ranks as the biggest-selling album from a Black artist in the 21st century and generated four consecutive US number-one singles. According to Billboard, he ranked second among artists of the 2000s and first on its Hot 100 chart for the decade. He made his acting debut on Moesha and went on to appear in The Faculty (1998), She's All That (1999), Light It Up (1999), In the Mix (2005), and Hands of Stone (2016). On Broadway he played Billy Flynn in Chicago. His accolades include eight Grammy Awards and a Hollywood Walk of Fame star.
