Plot summary
Emma Turner is an artist who as a child relied on an imaginary friend called Lilly to cope with abuse from her father. She is now married to Brad, a psychiatrist who appears to everyone as a caring husband, and she has inherited a fortune held in a trust on the condition that she stays married. Emma has struggled with mental illness, and Lilly has begun to appear to her again, which tells her she is losing her grip. She wants to keep her marriage and to show Brad that she is in control, so she decides to take drastic steps to free herself of her imaginary friend and of her torment.
