Plot summary
Booger Dawson has been seeing Jeanie Humphrey for three months, and the two plan to marry on Valentine's Day. Days before the ceremony, Jeanie brings him to meet her wealthy family, who have social ambitions. Her mother Tippy and her sister Gaylord support the match, but her father Aaron, a businessman uneasy about his new money, will not have a nerd for a son-in-law. Booger asks his old Tri-Lamb fraternity brothers to the wedding, among them Lewis Skolnick and Lewis's pregnant wife Betty. Fearing that the couple and their friends will spoil the polished image he has built and harm his political prospects, Aaron talks the matter over with Chip Medford, Gaylord's husband, who proposes wrecking the ceremony. Aaron agrees, though reluctantly.
