Plot summary
Dan Reed, the mayor of Trapper Falls, Alaska, and his brother Greg run an adventure tour company and keep the town's Christmas traditions, which go back fifty years. Mitch Bright, Dan's high school rival, comes back after twenty years away. He is a successful lawyer from the big city, and he says the town is violating his rights. He objects to the nativity scene in front of City Hall and wants the word Christmas changed to Happy Holidays on the signs. Dan is suspicious of him right away, and the disagreement grows from one person's opinion into a problem for the whole town.
