Ralf Wolter
Biography
Ralf Wolter was a German actor of stage and screen whose career as a character player ran past 60 years and nearly 220 film and television parts. He began in Berlin theater and cabaret in the late 1940s, and Die Frauen des Herrn S. gave him his first screen credit. Comic supporting work brought him prominence. In 1961 he played Borodenko, a bald Soviet agent, in Billy Wilder's One, Two, Three (1961), and a decade later he appeared in Cabaret (1972) as Herr Ludwig. German audiences knew him best from the Karl May adaptations of the 1960s, in which he was Hadschi Halef Omar and the friendly trapper Sam Hawkens, a part he revived for a television series starting in 1980. He appeared in What Is the Matter with Willi? with Heinz Erhardt and made musicals with the child singer Heintje Simons, then turned increasingly to television from the 1970s. Fly Away (2012) was among his last films.
