Rachel Nichols
Biography
Born in Augusta, Maine, Rachel Nichols is an American actress and model who started out as a model while studying at Columbia University before moving into acting in the early 2000s. After small parts in Autumn in New York and an episode of Sex and the City, she took her first major film role in the 2003 comedy Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd. Wider recognition came with the last season of Alias and with The Amityville Horror (2005), and she had her first starring film role in P2 (2007). Mainstream success followed in Star Trek (2009) and in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009). Her other films include Conan the Barbarian (2011) and Alex Cross (2012), along with Raze (2013) and Inside (2016). She starred in the television series Continuum (2012 to 2015), winning a Constellation Award and collecting two Saturn Award nominations, and later appeared in Criminal Minds, Chicago Fire and The Librarians.

Getting ready for a role
Nichols joined the cast of Star Trek (2009) in November 2007, yet the secrecy around the project meant she had no idea what her part was, and she admitted at the time that her character's name was a mystery to her. She went on to play an Orion cadet at Starfleet Academy.
