Phil Leeds
Biography
The American character actor Phil Leeds began in standup comedy in his twenties and later appeared in both films and television. Born in New York City and raised in the Bronx, he went on to film roles in Rosemary's Baby (1968), Beaches (1988) and Ghost (1990). His television work included appearances on The Dick Van Dyke Show, Maude, Barney Miller, The Golden Girls, Friends and Everybody Loves Raymond. At 80 he appeared in a 1996 Halloween episode of Roseanne that spoofed Rosemary's Baby; he had played Dr. Shand in the 1968 original. Lost & Found (1999) gave him his last part, a brief scene. He also appeared on Broadway in productions such as Make a Wish, The Matchmaker and Little Murders.
