Plot summary
George Moran is a former Marine who served in the Dominican Republic and now runs a small beachfront motel in Miami. He is searching for Luci Palma, a Dominican woman who saved his life in 1965 and called him Cat Chaser. During that search he begins a relationship with Mary DeBoya, a rich but unhappy woman married to a sadistic former Dominican general. He is pulled into a plan by fellow veteran Nolen Tyner and former New York policeman Jiggs Scully to steal two million dollars from the general.

- Kelly McGillis shaved her head in her trailer on the last day of shooting Cat Chaser and said "Screw you, I never want to act again," after calling the shoot the most hateful experience of her life.
- Abel Ferrara's first cut of Cat Chaser ran three hours before Vestron executives had it reduced to 90 minutes against his wishes; a voiceover performed by actor Reni Santoni was added after Peter Weller refused to do it.
- Abel Ferrara wanted a body double to shoot Cat Chaser's rape scene because he found it too physical; Kelly McGillis was upset, accused him of replacing her because he thought she wasn't beautiful enough, and ended up filming the scene herself, essentially writing it.
