Perry King
Biography
Perry King is an American actor who earned a drama degree at Yale and also studied at Juilliard. He made his film debut in Slaughterhouse-Five (1972) and went on to appear as Chico Tyrell in The Lords of Flatbush (1974) and as Hammond Maxwell in Mandingo (1975). He has built a long career across feature films, television series, and television movies since the 1970s. King auditioned to play Han Solo in Star Wars, but the part went to Harrison Ford; he later played the part in radio adaptations of Star Wars and its two sequels. On television, King starred in The Quest and began playing Cody Allen on Riptide in 1984, the same year he received a Golden Globe nomination for the TV movie The Hasty Heart. He later played Hayley Armstrong on Melrose Place and Richard Williams on Titans, and he portrayed the President of the United States in The Day After Tomorrow (2004).
