Biography
Michael Richards is an American actor and comedian who came out of stand-up, first gaining national attention on Billy Crystal's debut cable special. Born in Culver City, California, he became a regular on ABC's Fridays, then took the role of Cosmo Kramer on Seinfeld, playing him from 1989 to 1998 and winning three Primetime Emmy Awards for supporting work in a comedy series. His films include UHF (1989), Problem Child (1990), So I Married an Axe Murderer (1993), Coneheads (1993), Airheads (1994), Trial and Error (1997), one of the few movies in which he starred, and Bee Movie (2007). In 2000 he fronted his own sitcom, The Michael Richards Show, which NBC dropped after two months. Later he appeared on Curb Your Enthusiasm and played Frank on Kirstie. He was Daddy Hogwood in the 2019 romantic comedy Faith, Hope & Love and released a memoir, Entrances and Exits, in 2024.

Richards was honorably discharged, then used G.I. Bill benefits to enroll at the California Institute of the Arts. In 1975 he earned a drama degree, a Bachelor of Arts, from the Evergreen State College.
