Chris Farley

Biography

Chris Farley was an American actor and comedian who built his career on physical comedy and athletic energy. Born in Madison, Wisconsin, and raised in Maple Bluff, he studied at Marquette University, learned improvisation at the Ark Improv Theatre, and worked his way through Chicago's Improv Olympic and Second City Theatre, where he reached the main stage in 1989. In 1990 he joined Saturday Night Live, staying five seasons and creating characters such as the motivational speaker Matt Foley. He moved into films with Wayne's World (1992), Wayne's World 2 (1993) and Coneheads (1993), then starred opposite David Spade in Tommy Boy (1995) and Black Sheep (1996), both domestic box office successes. He took the title role in Beverly Hills Ninja (1997), which opened in first place, and appeared in Airheads (1994). Almost Heroes (1998) was released after his death in 1997.
