Michael Kitchen

Biography

Michael Kitchen is an English actor and television producer who trained at the National Youth Theatre and then at RADA, graduating in 1969 after time with the Belgrade Theatre in Coventry. His film work began in 1971 with Unman, Wittering and Zigo (1971) and Dracula A.D. 1972 (1972), and he later appeared in Out of Africa (1985), The Russia House (1990), Fatherland (1994), Mrs Dalloway (1997), Proof of Life (2000) and My Week with Marilyn (2011). He was Bill Tanner in the Bond films GoldenEye (1995) and The World Is Not Enough (1999). For To Play the King he received a BAFTA nomination, and The Hanging Gale brought him a Golden FIPA award. Between 2002 and 2015 he played Christopher Foyle, the lead in Foyle's War, an ITV mystery drama that ran for nine series and which he also produced. He has also acted widely in theater, including with the RSC and the National Theatre.
