Plot summary
Daisy Langrish is an author, and her working life in London is a busy one. She buys a quiet cottage in the country as a retreat from its pressures, and she does not expect a would-be suitor to come with the house. On her first day in the place, Henry Kent, a gardener from the area, is on hand to help and offers her his friendship. He offers to look after the overgrown garden too. Daisy accepts, and the relationship between the two of them develops. Kent is fooling no one but Daisy. Whether his intentions are sinister is the question.
