Max Gail
Biography
Max Gail is an American actor whose career has spanned stage, television, and film. Born in Detroit and raised in Grosse Ile, Michigan, he made his acting debut in 1970 at San Francisco's Little Fox Theatre, where he played Chief Bromden in the first production of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and later repeated the part for his New York stage debut in 1973. He became known for the role of Detective Stan Wojo Wojciehowicz on Barney Miller, earning two consecutive Primetime Emmy nominations for supporting actor in a comedy series. His best-known film role was Harold, the owner of the taxi company, in D.C. Cab (1983), and he directed several Barney Miller episodes. He also played Brooklyn Dodgers manager Burt Shotton in 42 (2013) and took over the role of Mike Corbin on General Hospital, winning Daytime Emmy Awards for best supporting actor in 2019 and 2021.
