Plot summary

Carol Petersen, a former singer, lives alone in California. Her husband died twenty years ago, and she has not wanted another relationship since. Her days are golf and cards with Georgina, Rona and Sally, her friends in a retirement community. When her elderly dog Hazel has to be put down, Carol returns from the vet to find a rat inside the house and spends the night outdoors. That morning she meets Lloyd, the man who cleans her pool, and an awkward first exchange turns into a friendship. Bill, a stranger she runs into while shopping, flirts with her, and her friends talk her into a seniors speed dating event. She goes, finds no one there of interest, and runs into Bill again outside.
